Brief Introduction to Discipline
This project is a master’s degree program in international trade taught in English, established by the National Scholarship Council of China at Southeast University and funded by a Chinese government scholarship. Students come from over 20 countries with different cultural backgrounds and educational experiences, but all hold undergraduate degrees.
Objectives
Students master solid and systematic international economic and trade theories, grasp the development trends of international trade disciplines, apply comprehensive knowledge and modern technological means to analyze specific problems in international trade theory and practice, and have strong policy analysis and business operation abilities. They also understand the impact of cultural differences in the management of multinational corporations, and master the basic theories and methods of market analysis. Especially, they need to understand and familiarize themselves with China’s economic environment and enterprises, analyze specific problems of business and trade in China, and creatively solve problems. Meanwhile, we should create opportunities for students to engage in international business activities in their future careers. Additionally, students are required to proficiently use English in listening, speaking, reading, and writing practice to achieve basic communication and academic research purposes, and to master a certain level of Chinese language knowledge.
Research Directions
a) Research on Multinational Corporations and International Enterprise Management Issues;
b) Research on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and Economic Development Issues;
c) Research on Cultural Differences in International Business;
d) Special Research on China’s Open Economy.
